Beaumont Polyethylene Expansion (BPEX)

PLC, Instrumentation, and Applications/Controls engineering support for various efforts surrounding design, installation, commissioning, and normal operations/maintenance for the new production unit at the ExxonMobil Beaumont polyethylene plant that increased capacity by 65 percent, or approximately 650,000 tonnes per year, to meet the growing demand for high-performance plastics.

Beaumont Light Atomospheric Distillation Expansion (BLADE)

Oct 2017 – April 2020

PLC, Instrumentation, and Applications/Controls engineering support for the new crude unit at the ExxonMobil Beaumont, Texas refinery that will increase crude refining capacity by more than 65 percent, or 250,000 barrels per day.

Selective Catalytic Naphtha Hydrofining (SCANfiner)

Feb 2017 – Nov 2018

PLC, Instrumentation, and Applications/Controls engineering support for various efforts surrounding design, installation, and commissioning for the new selective catalyst naphtha hydrofining unit in the ExxonMobil Beaumont Refinery. The unit utilizes an ExxonMobil proprietary process for selective removal of sulfur from naphtha to produce ultra-low sulfur (<10 ppm) product while minimizing octane loss.

Steam Generation (Boiler)

Jan 2014 – Dec 2014

Creation of steam generation unit consisting of one 500,000 lb/hr and two 250,000 lb/hr boilers leading to facility independence from third-party steam generation.

Initially responsible for the creation of the process/financial monitoring/reporting databases, reviewing and helping teach/clarify unit logic, and other operations efforts. After role change, responsible for all Safety Instrumented System (SIS) and Burner Management System (BMS) validation, design review/correction/approval including SRS/programming/I&E and correction where applicable, Functional Safety Assessment, creation and management of execution for Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), workforce/resource allocation, and tracking/reporting of progress. SIS/BMS activities never became critical path despite projections to the contrary, and there were zero issues with the systems during initial startups. Also ensured applicable standards were followed for all IPS on the DCS, and other HMIs.
